Giulio Boato

Giulio Boato is a director who moves fluidly between cinema and the performing arts. Born and raised in Venice, he is now based in Bordeaux.

Fascinated by the spark that happens when film meets live art, his passion lies in capturing the intensity of stage presence and the mystery of the creative process on screen.

Since 2015, Giulio has followed the work of visionary artists such as Romeo Castellucci, Shiro Takatani & Ryūichi Sakamoto, Heiner Goebbels, Jan Fabre & Mikhail Baryshnikov, Lucia Ronchetti, Meytal Blanaru, Mariangela & Vinicio Capossela.

He was the co-founder of the experimental theatre collective DOYOUDaDA and the film production company 313, two independent ventures that have now concluded. Today, he is an active member of NAAIS, the association of audiovisual authors in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

His films, produced by French, Italian, and German companies and broadcasters, have journeyed across the world, finding audiences in international festivals and theatres.
