Giulio Boato (1988) is a film director and stage director. Trained in visual and performing arts in Venice, Bordeaux, Bologna and Paris, he has developed a cinematic practice at the intersection of creative documentary, fiction and the performing arts.

After directing portraits of major figures who shaped his artistic imagination – including Jan Fabre, Romeo Castellucci, Shiro Takatani and Heiner Goebbels – his work has gradually turned towards artists who transform vulnerability into a creative force. His films explore the body as a space of resistance, transformation and self-reinvention, where new ways of inhabiting the world can emerge.

His films have been released theatrically, broadcast by channels including ARTE, SWR, Rai, Sky and TV7, and screened at international festivals, where they continue to engage audiences across cinema and the performing arts.
